September is Hunger Action Month
Hunger Action Month is an opportunity to engage in the fight against domestic hunger. Through America’s Second Harvest (soon to be Feeding America) and its 205 member food banks events across the United States that directly benefit hunger relief efforts are taking place throughout the month of September.
Be on the lookout for other activities in September. There are many ways to thank volunteers, raise awareness and fight hunger. Together we can make this a groundbreaking Hunger Action Month!

Thank you for another successful Spirit of Texas Food Drive. The 2008 Spirit of Texas drive brought in $223,984 and 387,352 pounds of food!
Farm Bill is now law!
As you may know, Congress heard your voices loud and clear and voted last week to override the President’s veto of the Farm Bill, officially making the bill public law on May 22, 2008. As a network, along with other food banks and their agencies across the country, we generated more than 4,600 emails, faxes and letters to Members of Congress urging them to vote in favor of the Farm Bill. The Farm Bill represents a significant victory for the more than 35 million Americans facing food insecurity and makes significant progress in moving toward our collective vision of a hunger free America.
