The Houston Food Bank loves groups! 

We are one of the few nonprofit organizations in Houston who can accommodate large groups.

By working together on a project that helps the fight against hunger, employees or members of any group can reap the benefits of community involvement.  Your group will gain a sense of achievement, unity and productivity.  Group volunteer events at the Houston Food Bank build morale and develop stronger communication skills among peers.

Getting started as a Group
All groups must be represented by a Group Coordinator.  If you are interested in bringing a group to the Houston Food Bank, please select someone (or yourself) to be the Group Coordinator. 

Group Coordinator:

• Serves as a liaison between the Houston Food Bank and their group.
• Is responsible for making sure all group members have registered online AND brought in a liability waiver.
  • In the event that a group member is unable to register online, the Group Coordinator is responsible for signing that member up online.
  • Group members will not be allowed to enter our warehouse or volunteer without having signed up online and signed a liability waiver.   
• Is responsible for arranging transportation
  • We have very limited parking and strongly encourage carpooling.
• Must ensure all group members follow our Volunteer Guidelines.
  • No volunteers will be allowed to volunteer at the Houston Food Bank without meeting dress code requirements.
• Distributes the online Volunteer Survey form to all group members that we send upon completion of volunteer time. 

So that we do not overbook and we make the most efficient use of your time and energy, all Group Coordinators must schedule their group’s visit in advance.  To schedule your group, please complete the online Scheduling Request.  It’s easy and takes only a minute.
