One of the two forms due each month (monthly report is included in the informational packet).
If you are interested in joining the Backpack Buddy Club please email Kristen House at khouse@houstonfoodbank.org with the following information:
Total number of enrollment in your school
Total number of students on free lunch
Total number of students on reduced lunch
Based on the information you provide, you will receive a set number of free food sacks each week. If your need is greater than your free allotment then you may purchase food from the Houston Food Bank for $4.00/food sack/week.
Backpack Buddy Distribution:
Once you have faxed or emailed all of your forms to Kristen House or Catalina Quesada you are ready to begin receiving food sacks.
You have two options:
Pick up food sacks from the Houston Food Bank
Our address is 3811 Eastex Freeway Houston, TX 77026 and our distribution schedule is: W-F from 7:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
When you arrive, you will park your car outside along Vintage Street and come in through the dock to the Distribution Office and check with the Check-In Desk (first desk you see when you come in-the person at this desk will be Patricia Sosa). Tell her you are here to pick up your Backpack Buddy Club order for (your school name). They will get your paperwork started and will let you know when a bay is open for you to pull up and get your order. If the doors are closed, please go to Bay 1 and look for the doorbell and ring it, someone will come to see you.
NOTE: You do not have to pick up your food sacks each week. You may pick up enough food sacks for a month, every two weeks, or whatever best fits your program and your transportation needs.
Arrange with a Houston Food Bank agency to pick up/deliver your food sacks for you
Please see our website to find a Houston Food Bank agency near your school. Call and introduce yourself and the Backpack Buddy Club program to them. See if they could partner with you, and pick up your food sacks when they make their own pick ups.
