Long time sponsor Bank of America has renewed their commitment to supporting the Houston community in the wake of the recent Hurricane by awarding Houston Food Bank $100,000 in general operating support. Right now, one in seven people in southeast Texas don’t have enough to eat. With around 1 million food insecure people in our 18-county service area, Houston Food Bank continues operating at elevated levels to meet the increased need. While providing nutritious food is the core of our mission, Houston Food Bank provides more than food. We provide access to programs and initiatives designed to offer nutritious food and meals for today, work toward lasting change for tomorrow, and address food insecurity and root causes of poverty. Bank of America’s generous support will go towards providing more than 300,000 meals for those in need, and support Houston Food Banks efforts to address the root causes of food insecurity.
