Victor
A U.S. Navy veteran, Victor attended a food distribution event hosted by Houston Food Bank and Combined Arms. “I’m very, very thankful,” he said as he waited for the distribution to start. After enduring several days without electricity following Hurricane Beryl, Victor emphasized the challenges of coping with the intense Texas heat, especially without air conditioning. “It was very, very difficult for me and my family, but we made it through,” he shared.
As a long-time donor to the Houston Food Bank, Victor has a deep appreciation for the organization. “Houston has the number one food bank in all 50 states,” he remarked. He’s been a client of the food bank for years, especially when raising his six children on a limited income. “You never let us down, especially during the pandemic,” he said, reflecting on how the food bank consistently met the needs of the community during difficult times.
Victor also highlighted the importance of seeking help when needed, stating, “There’s no shame in asking for help. Once you find the resources, you realize you’re not alone—there are many of us who need help.”
