The Houston Food Bank’s Hunger Game is a competition in which groups of all sizes compete against each other to provide food for better lives within our community. Groups compete to raise the most meals by donating time, food, and funds. There will be two awards. The Overall Award will recognize the group who generates the most meals. The Per Capita Award will recognize the group who generates the most meals per group member.
Who can participate?
We welcome groups of all sizes. Participating groups may include churches, school groups, families, corporate groups, community groups, sports teams, fraternities/sororities and more! Each team must choose a team captain who will be responsible for registering the group and for serving as the contact person.
How does it work?
Participants will be awarded points for financial and food contributions and volunteering their time at the Houston Food Bank as follows:
1 lb. of food = 1 point
$1 = 3 points
1 volunteer = 50 points
Bonus Meals Opportunities:
- 250 bonus points for Early Registration
- 250 bonus points for posting a picture on Social Media explaining why your team is fighting hunger during Hunger Action Month
- Double bonus points for every volunteer attending Volunteer Bonus Days
What can your group win?
There will be two awards given. The Overall Award will recognize the group who generates the most points. The Per Capita Award will recognize the group who generates the most points per group member. The two winning groups will receive a plaque and photo wall recognition at the Houston Food Bank. The winners will also be featured on social media highlighting their cause and reason for choosing to help the Houston Food Bank.
