Protein Pack Room

Volunteering in the Protein Pack Room

Houston Food Bank receives donated protein which needs to be divided into portions and processed before we can distribute to partners. This is an important volunteer shift as protein is an important part of a healthy diet. Join us to help provide food for better lives.

The Protein Pack Room is one of only 10 in food banks across the United States. This climate-controlled room, maintained at 30 °F to 40 °F, ensures the safe handling and processing of protein. Volunteers will be provided with jackets, PPE, and training before starting their shift.

This unique and highly essential volunteer opportunity greatly impacts our ability to distribute nutritious foods to our partners, ensuring our neighbors receive the protein they need. Join us and be part of a greater impact.

If you are not feeling well, please cancel your registration on Civicore. Safety protocols and PPE are strictly required for this shift.

Sign up individually or as a group. Max of 22 volunteers per shift.

For your safety, closed-toe shoes, sleeved shirts and long pants are required. No jewelry please.
